国際学部、シンガポール国立大学と国際共修を実施
国際学部国際関係専攻のローゼンバウム知佳ゼミ・佐野八重ゼミ、およびGlobal Liberal Studies (GLS)専攻のダンジェロ ジェームスゼミは、シンガポール国立大学の学生24人とともに、3日間の共同プロジェクトを行いました。世界的にも高い評価を受けているシンガポール国立大学（以下NUS）とは、2年連続での合同プロジェクトとなります（2025年度の活動に関する記事はこちら）。
今年は、名駅四丁目まちづくり協議会が抱えている課題である「地域の人々のつながりの強化」および「名古屋駅からの人の流れの改良」をテーマに、中京大学生とNUS生の合同グループが、日本語と英語を駆使してイベントの企画・提案を行いました。
中京大学生は4月から1か月以上かけて、協議会の横山幸子会長から直接お話を伺ったり、名駅四丁目を視察した上で、英語を使った共同ワークに向けて準備を進めました。5月15日と16日には再度、名駅四丁目へＮＵＳ生とともに足を運び、地元の人々へのインタビューを通してイベント企画のヒントを探りました。また、協議会とともに街づくりに取組んでいる名鉄観光サービス株式会社からのフィードバックをもとに、イベントアイデアの改良を重ねました。
5月22日には、中京大学のキャンパスにて、イベント企画のプレゼンテーションを行いました。名駅四丁目まちづくり協議会のメンバーをはじめ、名鉄観光サービス株式会社、名古屋市住宅都市局、名古屋都市センターより、街づくりプロフェッショナルの皆さまに審査員としてご参加いただきました。
学生グループからは、「めいよん」地区にある魚市場を利用した壁画アート企画、ファッションショーなどの提案のほか、街づくりの重要な要素である「防災」を意識し、避難場所を示す「めいよん」オリジナルマスコットの提案など、ユニークで具体的な提案がありました。
プレゼンテーション後には、審査員から各グループに対して賞が贈られました。賞は、各アイデアの特徴、特に優れた点に着目して設けられ、それぞれのグループならではの魅力が評価されました。講評では、「視点が新鮮だった」「地域課題をよく捉えていた」「実現性が高い」など、学生たちの発想力や取り組み姿勢に対して称賛の言葉をいただきました。
この3日間を通して、学生たちは地域課題を多角的に捉え、実現可能なイベント企画を考える力を学んだだけでなく、日本語と英語を通して、さまざまなバックグラウンドを持つ学生との交流を深めました。
Chukyo Students Collaborated with NUSC Students on a Community Engagement Project
Students from three seminar classes in the School of Global Studies participated in a three-day collaborative project with students from NUS College, National University of Singapore (NUSC). This was the second consecutive year that Chukyo University carried out a joint project with NUSC.
This year, the project focused on two issues faced by the Meieki 4-chome Community Development Council: strengthening connections among local community members and improving the flow of people from Nagoya Station. Mixed groups of Chukyo University students and NUSC students planned and proposed event ideas using both Japanese and English.
Chukyo University students spent more than a month preparing for the project from April. They attended a talk by the chairperson of the council, visited the Meieki 4-chome area (known as Meiyon), and prepared for collaborative work in English. After the NUSC students arrived in Japan, students visited the Meiyon area again on May 15th and 16th. Through interviews with local people, they looked for ideas and insights for their event plans. They also refined their proposals based on feedback from Meitetsu World Travel, Inc., which works closely with the council on community development.
On May 22nd, the students gave presentations on their event plans at Chukyo University. The judges included Ms. Sachiko Yokoyama who serves as chairperson of the council, as well as community development professionals from Meitetsu World Travel, Inc. and the City of Nagoya. Student groups proposed ideas such as a mural art project using the fish market in the Meiyon district and a fashion show. They also made proposals related to disaster prevention, an important element of community development, including a Meiyon original mascot that would indicate evacuation sites.
Through this three-day project, students not only learned how to understand local issues from multiple perspectives and develop feasible event plans, but also deepened their interactions with students from various backgrounds through both Japanese and English.
