Department of Health Science
As people are getting more concerned about health, the expectation and need for sports are significantly increasing. However, the effects or risks of sports towards the human mind or body do not seem to be Undergraduate 13 fully understood when sports are actually played.
At the Department of Health Science, you will undertake extensive research on the relationship between sports and health from scientific viewpoints, such as medical, psychological and sociological aspects.
This department aims to foster human resources in various fields to help contribute to the development of a health-conscious society as, for example, sports instructors focusing on health promotion in the lifelong or disabled sports fields, developers of health-themed products or services, athletic trainer for top-level athletes or health administrators at companies or public institutions.

Department of Sport Science
In order for athletes to perform successfully in the international competitions, scientific instruction or advice, such as effective and efficient body and mental training or health maintenance coaching for the mind and body as well as to enable the best performance, are essential.
Therefore, the curriculum of the Department of Sport Science systematically includes the comprehensive basics of sport science such as medicine, health science and anatomical physiology as well as the combined “theory” and “practice” in specific disciplines according to individual objectives.
This department aims to foster human resources to be successful in not only the sports industry, but also in a wide range of other fields with acquired scientific vision and expertise in demonstrating high levels of self-management and communication skills obtained during the practice of competitive sports.

What students gain through sports is not limited to a direct result, such as the improvement in competitive abilities or strength.
It deeply involves individual character building or motivation in life, and plays an important role in building a human society.
Through sports activities, especially during the stages of children’s growth, the intellectual education and well-balanced healthy development of mind and body are advanced and, moreover, the preciousness of the efforts towards the self-actualization and the importance of respecting other fellows or players can be taught.
Therefore, at this department we train physical education teachers who consider it important for children to grow, learning various ideas through the “body.”
